Intrastat
What is Intrastat
Intrastat is the system used within the European Union to record transaction information and values that happen between each of the 27 countries. Its purpose to to gather statistics on trade between countries in the EU (European Union).
Before there was free trade between countries in the EU, every item imported in to a country had to be recorded on a customs document before it was released to the importer of the goods. The customs document recorded all the details of the items imported, such as how they arrived, what the goods where, where did thet come from, and what value they are.
Since the open market in 1993 came in to place, imports from other EU countries were no longer documented and so all this stastical information would have been uncollectable. So in its place came Intrastat.
Not every business has to file Intrastat details. In Ireland only businesses who import €191,000 or export €635,000 have to complete an Intrastat. The information required is:
and/or Dispatches (Exports) over 34,000,000 EURO, are required to complete

and/or Dispatches (Exports) over 34,000,000 EURO, are required to complete
